House Rules
Last updated: January 2026
Our House Rules are a condition of your stay and are in place to ensure a comfortable, respectful experience for all guests. They reflect the care we’ve taken in restoring and operating this historic building, and help preserve the calm, welcoming atmosphere that defines the King George Hotel.
-
Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Guests are to be respectful of others during this time, especially in hallways and outdoor spaces.
-
We expect all guests to treat hotel staff and fellow guests with courtesy and respect. Harassment, aggressive behavior, or discriminatory conduct will not be tolerated and may result in immediate eviction without refund.
-
Guests are to comply with reasonable requests from hotel staff made in the interest of safety, security, or guest comfort.
-
All guests are to maintain a respectful and considerate atmosphere at all times. Excessive noise, intoxication, public disturbances, or aggressive behavior—whether in guest rooms or common areas—will not be tolerated. The hotel reserves the right to issue warnings or, in serious cases, to evict individuals or groups without refund if their behavior negatively affects the experience or safety of other guests.
-
Only registered guests are permitted in guest rooms after 10:00 PM. For safety and insurance purposes, all overnight guests must be declared at check-in. Visitors should remain in common areas unless approved by hotel staff.
-
Guests are responsible for safeguarding room keys and access codes. Lost or unreturned access devices may result in a replacement fee.
-
The King George Hotel maintains a peaceful, boutique atmosphere. Large group gatherings or events in guest rooms or common areas are not permitted unless expressly approved in writing by hotel management.
-
The rooftop patio is open to registered guests from 8 am to 8 pm.
No parties or organized gatherings are permitted.
Children under 13 are to be supervised at all times.
-
Alcohol may be enjoyed responsibly in guest rooms and on the rooftop patio only. Consumption of alcohol is not permitted outside or in hallways, the lobby, or other public spaces.
-
The KGH has suffered two catastrophic fires in our past - please help us preserve this historic building!
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited anywhere on hotel property, including outdoor areas.
A $450 deep-cleaning fee will be applied if smoking occurs in guest rooms or common areas.
-
For safety reasons, personal cooking appliances such as hot plates, toasters, or electric grills are not permitted in guest rooms. Our rooms are not equipped for in-room cooking, and unauthorized appliance use may trigger fire alarms or pose safety risks.
-
Equipment may not be brought into guest rooms, or common indoor areas due to safety, cleanliness, and fire code compliance.
All stored items must be reasonably clean before being placed in storage.
The hotel is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property, including items stored in designated storage areas.
-
Fire escapes are for emergency use only. Do not use fire exits as general access points or shortcuts.
-
Guests are responsible for any damage to rooms, furnishings, or hotel property during their stay. Charges for repairs, replacements, or deep-cleaning may be applied to the credit card on file or the deposit provided at check-in.
-
Pets are not allowed.
Certified service animals are welcome in all spaces.
-
Children must be supervised at all times, including in common areas and on the rooftop patio.
-
Garbage and recycling bins are provided in your room. As a small village, Cumberland has limited waste and recycling infrastructure - your care and consideration in disposing of items correctly helps reduce strain on local services and protects our local environment.
For large items or special disposal, please check with staff.
-
Freshwater is a shared and limited resource in our region. We encourage guests to use water mindfully by keeping showers brief, turning taps off when not in use, and reusing towels when possible. Your efforts help reduce our environmental footprint and preserve the natural watersheds that sustain the Cumberland Forest and surrounding ecosystems.
-
Items left behind will be held for 30 days. Shipping of lost items can be arranged at the guest’s expense. Perishables are discarded immediately.
